dinner time (199/365) (2010:7/52)

18/07/10 (199/365) (2010:7/52) Dinner time

If you came to my house, I'd make you tacos for tea. It's my one and only party piece so I hope you like it.
Tonight the family had taco shells but it was tortillas all the way for me. Just a shame I forgot the salsa.

so you caught me... (194/365) (2010:27/52)

13/07/10 (194/365) (2010:27/52) so you caught me...

I think we've already established I'm still having teenage girl moments so this won't really be a surprise now, will it?

lost in music (186/365) (2010:21/52)

05/07/10 (186/365) (2010:21/52) lost in music

Do you remember what it's like to be swept away in a song, so completely wrapped up in the music you can
actually feel your heart ache for a lost love that wasn't even your's? Or feel it soar with such joy you think
you'll burst? You just want to stand there and throw your arms out and sing at the top of your voice.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately, the aerial in my car's broken so I've been listening to albums, old and new.
I'd forgotten how different it is to hear 10-12 songs by an artist rather than the chopping and changing you get on the radio.

I've gotten so involved that I became addicted to the emotional rush. It was like being the hopelessly romantic, full-of-teenage-angst girl I used to be and whilst it was good to spend some time together, I'm not really her anymore. But I've re-awoken the hunger

Nobody home (185/365)

04/07/10 (185/365) (2010:22/52) Nobody home

the house next door has been unoccupied for nearly 18 months and I love how the garden is constantly reclaiming the land.

Serentity (2010:20/52)

Serentity (2010:20/52)

My advice to my younger self? Don't really know if I'd listen, but I'd say things tend to work out in the end.

My motto:

I strive for
the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.

aka choose your battles....

(135/365) (2010:15/52 - catch up)

15/5/10 (135/365) (2010:15/52 - catch up)

2010: The year week took photos week 15, favourite movie shot (I'm catching up on my missed assignments)

This isn't especially my favourite shot from a movie but it's certainly the first that sprang to mind. I tried to think of other ones but I kept coming back to this. I love his expression, I was thinking 'how do I ask a 3 year old to look like a toy' when he pulled this blank look :)

(132/365)

12/5/10 (132/365)

I missed this week's 2010:TYWTP assignment on "being 18". I've been thinking about it a lot and still plan to catch up, but in the meantime here's a photo of me not having been 18 for 16 years... Ugh.

Be calm (2010:17/52) (122/365)

Be calm (2010:17/52) (122/365)

2010: The year we took photos, week 17 assignment - Be calm by Fun

This song sounds like what I'd imagine a panic attack to feel like, so that led me to thinking of calming down by breathing through a paper bag.

Do you know how hard it is to get hold of a paper bag in England?

Anyway you should check out the song, it's really good.

2010: The year we took photos, week 16 'and relax...'

I find looking at lines, curves, repeating patterns, geometric shapes soothing. I know it's weird, and call me a geek but there is something in the simplicity that's beautiful.

As a child (100/365) (2010:14/365)

As a child - 10/4/365 (100/365) (2010:14/365)

As a child you get to belt it down the drive with your friends, peddling so fast your knees are a blur. You could
crash any minute but you're too little to worry about that, you're just busy having a marvellous time

Feels like home (2010:12/52)

Feels like home (2010:12/52)

2010: The year we took photos, week 12 assignment was time for my choice - feels like home. I was going to get something more general of my surroundings but this little row of houses sums it all up. The photo's a bit busy but it's the truth. We've lived here a while now and I still love it (although the house could do with being a bit bigger!)

Oh the trouble I've had with this one - decided to use my DSLR but then the macbook died! One photo, no way of uploading it and it's my assignment this week... got there in the end

Erm, what was this for again? (79/365) (2010:11/52)

Erm, what was this for again? 20/3/10 (79/365)

(2010: The year we took photos, week 11 - forgotten)

I am a list maker, as you may have worked out, but I've been known to draw on my hand if there's something I want to remember when I get home. 'cept sometimes it takes me a while to remember the thing I was trying not to forget....

I'm in a wide open space - 13/3/10 (13/365) (2010:10/52)

2010: The Year We Took Photos Week 10 assignment = Space

I live near here, in fact look out of my bedroom window and you can see it rolling off over the horizon.

Moorland is beautiful, if you like sparse and rugged of course.

Is it safe to come out yet? (2010:6/52)

"I'm making a run for it, tell Mother I love her" 2010: The year we took photos - week 6, inanimate perspective

From the POV of our guinea pigs (who I know aren't inanimate but it said anything other than a person). It's a great theme but I really struggled with this one and I just don't know why. I could think of lots of objects but no ideas for set ups.

Going, going, gone (2010:5/52)

2010:TYWTP, Week 5 assignment = motion (..?) I tried all sorts this week but nothing worked. Had fun doing this one though....

It's all in my mind (2010:4/52)

It's all in my mind (2010:4/52)

Why did I come up this way? I hate coming up here, I should have left enough time to go the long way round. It gives me the creeps.

Nothing's going to happen. I'm in the midst of the train station, people are everywhere.

Just not up here.

... Don't think about it. A little bit further and you'll be back down the steps to the platform. Look there's even CCTV cameras all along here.

Why isn't anyone up here?
Walk faster.
Look. The steps. Loads of people on the platform. Relax.

What was I getting all worked up about? I'm being daft. It's all in my mind...

Flesh and blood (21/365) (2010:3/52)

Flesh and blood - 21/1/10 (21/365) (3/52)

Week 3 assignment for 2010: the year we took photos is blood. My first reaction was eurgh. Then my imagination got going:

I thought about having fun faking it with ketchup or other red liquids, red wine, blood being thicker than water, lighting my hand and seeing the veins, pricking my finger à la sleeping beauty and of course vampires. I thought about the title sequence to True Blood which I have to skip because it's too visceral, which then made me think of meat.

So here is a picture of flesh and blood taken up close by a vegetarian. Who said I won't suffer for my art.
