Flesh and blood (21/365) (2010:3/52)

Flesh and blood - 21/1/10 (21/365) (3/52)

Week 3 assignment for 2010: the year we took photos is blood. My first reaction was eurgh. Then my imagination got going:

I thought about having fun faking it with ketchup or other red liquids, red wine, blood being thicker than water, lighting my hand and seeing the veins, pricking my finger à la sleeping beauty and of course vampires. I thought about the title sequence to True Blood which I have to skip because it's too visceral, which then made me think of meat.

So here is a picture of flesh and blood taken up close by a vegetarian. Who said I won't suffer for my art.

Can't believe a vegetarian killed all those animals for the sake of a photo, shocking, truly shocking. And where did you get hold of that plastic greenery?

When I narrowed my eyes it made the picture blur and (almost) look like one of those old-fashioned red and white sweets. Very visceral. And did you really, really, really take all these on an iPhone?

Your shots are raw (excuse the pun), thought evoking and stunning. While they speak loudly in their own right they also invoke me (a writer) to jump into the frame and interpret their stories.

Dan told us to come, and he was so right to. Your photos are stunning. Beautiful, thought provoking. I love them. I'll be back for more.

Like today's 'find' so much, I've put you in a You're Welcome meme. Thanks again for the beautiful images.

Would it be too offensive to say that this one makes me feel hungry? I am amazed at how clear photos taken from an iphone can come out.

@SPD - I'm only going so far (although when Evan picked his nose and made it bleed this week, my first thought was "there's my photo!" til my mother instinct kicked back in and made me feel naughty

@angelsandurchinsblog - I can see it. And yes. You should check out the various flickr groups, it's amazing what people can do with their crappy iphone camera. You can see the difference in a 3gs already so I'm hoping it's an even better camera coming out this year. Thanks also for the mention.

@Bump2Basics - thank you and that could be an interesting experiment, seeing what it says to you :)

@Brit in Bosnia - thank you, I'm really touched by everyone's lovely comments. Look forward to having you along, hope I don't disappoint!

@Heather - it's ok, just don't make me eat it! As I've said above, this is the 3g camera and I can spot on flickr who has a 3gs by their clarity already. I'm just hoping to hold out for the 4g (if there is one) this summer

@Al - I'll let you off… ;) Thanks

@DJ Kirby - yes, I am planning to turn these pictures into a physical record at some point, but thinking I might pass on this one!
